Lil Ugly Mane
Lil Ugly Mane
Lil Ugly Mane is a multi-genre American recording artist and music producer from Richmond, Virginia. He is best known for his 2012 album Mista Thug Isolation and his 2015 album Oblivion Access.

He began uploading music to Bandcamp under the name Lil Ugly Mane in 2010. This was followed by his debut mixtape, Playaz Circle, in 2011. His early work drew influence from the early Memphis rap scene's dark, horrorcore and gangsta rap lyrics, distinctive production style, and lo-fi recording quality. He collaborated with underground hip hop collective Raider Klan, who were also heavily influenced by early Memphis rappers such as Three 6 Mafia, on several songs, and designed much of their cover art, drawing influence from classic Southern rap designers Pen & Pixel.

His debut album, Mista Thug Isolation, was released in 2012. The album made waves within underground hip hop, earning positive reviews from Mishka NYC, among others, and support from members of hip hop group Odd Future. It was followed by shorter and more experimental projects such as Uneven Compromise and On Doing an Evil Deed Blues, and the collaborative EP Supasonic with Supa Sortahuman. In 2013, he announced that he planned to retire the Lil Ugly Mane project, although this appears to have not transpired.

Over the next few years, Lil Ugly Mane sporadically released pre-recorded material, such as the single "Underwater Tank" in collaboration with Antwon and the critically acclaimed, genre-spanning mixtape Third Side of Tape.

In late 2015, Lil Ugly Mane released the album Oblivion Access, a more experimental and personal album than previous offerings, as well as a collaborative album with Nickelus F, Trick Dice.

In early 2016, it was announced Lil Ugly Mane, Antwon, and Wiki had formed a new group called Secret Circle. Their first song, "Keep It Low", was released in June of that year. The group disbanded in 2018.
Nickelus F
Nickelus F
Nickelus F (formerly known as Nick Fury) is a rapper, songwriter, and producer from Richmond, Virginia. He is best known for being the Black Entertainment Television 106 & Park "Freestyle Friday" champion seven weeks in a row and being inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2007. Nickelus F is also known for his collaborations with rapper Drake. On the Cut the Check mixtape, Drake and Nickelus F released the song "AM 2 PM" by FTP Productions, which was also included on Drake's first mixtape Room for Improvement, a project which features Nickelus F on several tracks including "Money," "A Scorpio's Mind," and "S.T.R.E.S.S.".

Nickelus F first began rapping in the 4th grade while at summer camp but he did not begin to take rap seriously until he was in the 6th grade. His first official song was recorded over LL Cool Jay's song "Hey Lover."

In 2000, Nickelus F got his first break into the hip hop industry when he competed against 300 contenders in the regional "Source Unsigned Hype Emcee Battle" where he placed second despite having no formal recording experience. He was also named "Unsigned Hype" in The Source in 2000 at the age of 17.

Nickelus F then went on to participate in BET's 106 & Park Freestyle Fridays where he was crowned champion after winning seven weeks in a row in 2007.

In November 2009, Nickelus F was featured in Complex's "Ten Most Underrated New Rappers".

In 2015, Nickelus F collaborated with rapper/producer Lil Ugly Mane, under his production name Shawn Kemp, and released the album Trick Dice. This album was released on cassette and according to Nickelus F, sold out in one hour.

In 2016, Nickelus F made his return to battle rap in a league, "Southpaw Battle Coalition" against Danja Zone, and in 2017 against Bigjinya.

Nickelus F is currently part of a collective in Richmond, Virginia, known as the Association of Great Minds or AGM. It features fellow artists Radio B and Michael Millions, producer Namebrand, and photographer/videographer Monsee.

Drake has described Nickelus F as "one of the most gifted people I know at finding flows".

As of 2018, the last released collaboration between Drake and Nickelus F was in 2013, titled "Number 15," which was released as a bonus track fifteen on Nickelus F's "Vices" album.
Lord Narf
Lord Narf
Lord Narf is part of a legion of prolific people doing really cool stuff at Awful Records (e.g. Tommy Genesis, ABRA, Father). In October, the rapper released the album Witchcraft. The project is pretty great. Over beats aesthetically similar to Father’s — dark and minimal — Lord Narf plays with vocal fry and lets her deep voice and low-bpm lines loop. It’s a bit hypnotic. Paper discussed the rapper, stating, “her playful, turnt up, off-kilter experimentations with style and mood seem especially well-suited to Awful’s collaborative DNA.”
